5 New Sandton Restaurants to Try This Winter
From an ocean-to-plate seafood house to a moody fine-dining newcomer named after a water goddess, Sandton's dining scene has quietly had its busiest quarter in years.

Sandton's restaurant scene doesn't usually make big moves in winter, but 2026 is the exception. Five significant openings in the last 90 days have re-shaped where locals are booking.
1. Kora Restaurant — Officially launched over the long weekend in early May, Kora leans into modern Pan-African fine dining. Chef-led tasting menus, a raw bar, and one of the strongest South African wine lists we've seen this year.
2. Vlamo — The Citizen called it Sandton's most anticipated premium opening. The concept plays on the tension between 'God of Thunder' bold flavours and 'Goddess of Water' delicate plating. Book two weeks ahead.
3. Tightline Seafood — Opening at Sandton Gate this July, the KZN family favourite finally lands in Joburg. Expect line-caught daily fish, oysters flown in from Knysna, and a raw bar counter.
4. Tortellino D'Oro — Authentic hand-rolled pasta, opened at Sandton Gate Central on 29 May. The R95 tortellino-of-the-day is the sleeper deal of the year.
5. Fabiani Café (Pop-up) — Only at Sandton City until 13 July, the fashion house's café concept pairs specialty coffee with a rotating charitable cause. Worth catching before it closes.
